What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy provides an avenue for childrento help express feelings, learn skills for communicating, resolve core problems, learn coping skills, heal attachment wounds and find connection with others.

As Virginia Axline says, “Play Therapy is based upon the fact that play is the child’s natural medium of self expression … It is an opportunity which is given to the child to ‘play out’ his feelings and problems just as in certain types of adult therapy an individual ‘talks out’ his difficulties.”

“Research suggests that play therapy is an effective means to treat an array of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Play therapy is provided by therapists who are specifically trained in therapeutic techniques and interventions.”
